Hello and thank you to everyone who is taking the time to read this!
After much work (including a step-by-step walkthrough on how to actually build a website), I’m here! I’ve wanted to create a blog for a long time now, to the point where I wrote out fake blog posts that I dreamed about posting at some point. I see blogging as the perfect balance of earnest emotion and the chance to be creative and really put one’s personal voice into the writing.
Actually doing the writing itself is a little more difficult, however. I’m reminded of many college and scholarship essays (despite this being much lower stakes). Since this is the first post, it is a challenge to create the “perfect” first impression that will leave readers waiting for more while also getting a good feel for my passions.
Since I was just a child in elementary school, being an author has always been a dream of mine. The idea of simply sharing the stories within my head and not needing anything else was a shock. For some time, I believed this fantasy would vanish along with my previous desire to be a doctor or teacher. Yet as I grew older, my passion for writing continued.
This creativity usually comes with a poetic outlook on life; I can go on a tangent about anything. I was never one to play tag on the playground; instead, I would roleplay with my friends at the bottom of the hill, making up a story as we went.
Somewhere along the line, it got harder to come out of the shell that grew over me, leaving me paralyzed between wanting to share and fearing it equally. Despite that fear, the young voice of the child I once was has continued to push me toward that goal I once held high.
While I won’t always have an exciting travel story or scientific insight that would garner widespread attention, I enjoy simply sharing my thoughts or anecdotes. And that is the whole point of the blog itself. To act as a way I can share what I think without interruption.
In the future, this blog may become based on a specific topic or follow a pattern. I’m already considering reviewing books that I read! And I hope this blog makes my younger self proud. I’m so excited to share my thoughts, opinions, creations, updates, and any other random thing with all of you.
